About Pride + Joy Studio
+ Approach
A student-forward approach to learning modern music.
I seek to create a safe and welcoming space for kids to share their excitement of music. My approach is as far from “one-size-fits-all” as can be. Our lessons are entirely contingent upon the student and their musical interests, as opposed to me forcing them into premade boxes.
Every musician is different just as every kid is different, and my curriculum is built with inclusivity and fun at top of mind. I aim to share curiosity and genuine excitement with every student, and build up their confidence and self trust.
+ Values
That “look what I can do” feeling.
Pride and Joy Studio is a fun, inclusive environment that fosters a genuine excitement of music in students of all experience-levels. Our student-forward approach supports every musician in finding their unique sound and process.
We value: authenticity, creativity, freedom, perseverance, and self-expression.
About Tryg Johnson
He/Him
I have been playing music my whole life. I began in choir at the age of four, started piano in fifth grade, drums and guitar in seventh grade, and from there taught myself how to play bass, banjo, mandolin, harmonica, and ukulele. I have been teaching and performing around the Twin Cities for the last ten years.
My philosophy is simple: learning how to play music is the greatest gift that a person can give themself, especially early on in life. It opens and expands your mind in a truly unique way (ask a scientist). I love music more than anything and am excited to share my knowledge with those who are interested.
