Meet the Teacher
Tryg
Johnson
I have been playing music my whole life. I began in choir at the age of four, started piano in fifth grade, drums and guitar in seventh grade, and from there taught myself how to play bass, banjo, mandolin, harmonica, and ukulele. I have been teaching and performing around the Twin Cities for the last ten years.
My philosophy is simple: learning how to play music is the greatest gift that a person can give themself, especially early on in life. It opens and expands your mind in a truly unique way (ask a scientist). I love music more than anything and am excited to share my knowledge with those who are interested.
For that “look what I can do” feeling.
Named after the blues hit by Stevie Ray Vaughn, Pride and Joy Studio is a space for learning music through improvisation, technique, theory, and practice.
Every musician is different just as every kid is different. Pride and Joy Studio is a fun, inclusive environment that fosters a genuine excitement of music in students of all experience-levels. Our student-forward approach supports every musician in finding their unique sound and process.
“Tryg was able to figure out the level she was at, what she wanted/needed to learn, and helped her improve noticeably. In addition, he gave her tips on how to self-teach and continue to improve her skills after the lessons had finished. He was always kind, personable, and listened to our needs/wants. He kept the learning fun, and his enthusiasm was infectious.”
